About River Church:

River Church is a dynamic, growing, inter-generational congregation with an emphasis on the new generation of young families, children, youth and young adults. While celebrating nearly one hundred and eighty years of continuous gospel ministry, River Church is nevertheless effectively impacting communities locally and globally in this ever-changing 21stcentury. The church facility is situated within the communities where the beauty of the river, forest and friendly neighbours are increasingly welcoming newcomers from across Canada, as well as other countries of origin.

About the Associate Pastor Position:

The Associate Pastor will be a highly motivated leader who enjoys connecting with people and helping them take their next steps at River Church. The ethos of this role is moving people from first-time guests to full participation in and through the church. He will help people connect in three primary ways: to each other (in groups for fellowship and discipleship), to ministry (through service) and to the church (through baptism and membership).

Requirements and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position has at least three to five years of ministry experience, with a track record of connecting people with people, recruiting and equipping leaders. He is known to be effective at delegating work and ministry tasks and developing systems to do so. Preferred formal education is to be at the Bachelor of Biblical Studies/Theology level, minimally.

The candidate will share in pastoral care ministries, as well as share preaching and teaching responsibilities, as mutually arranged with the Lead Pastor.  The role envisions the individual as a highly visible and welcoming presence at the public gatherings of River Church. There is required a strong work ethic and emotional intelligence with a skill and gift for remembering people, listening, understanding and connecting people with each other. Involvement in the local communities will be an asset.

Continual numerical growth of the church shall require flexibility on the part of this individual as together we address the matters of ministry to and through youth and young adults.

Our heartbeat is to raise up a new generation of families passionately serving Christ.  Therefore the Associate Pastor is to have an evangelistic heart that loves to see individuals coming to Christ.

General Staff Expectations:

This staff member shall continue to personally nurture a lifestyle reflective of a follower of Jesus Christ. They shall concur with the statement of faith and ministry plan of River Church, as documented. As one concrete indicator of commitment, they shall share in the financial support of the ministries of the church.

Accountability and Salary:

This position is accountable to and receives spiritual guidance and mentorship from the Lead Pastor. Salary will be determined based upon experience and education.  Housing will be a part of the financial arrangement in the form of a parsonage located on the church property.  Additional benefits such as vacation days shall be discussed during the interview process. Expected commitment is a minimum of 40 hours of service per week, which includes Sundays and evenings.
